nets (named for the butterflies they so resemble),
sillhouetted against the horizon. Just to see them is a thrill, but imagine the feeling of being part of the fleet, sharing their unique and venerable culture,
listening to their lively talk on ship-to-shore radio,
experiencing the excitement when the nets come up
full, and the pang of disappointment when they
do not. Imagine watching as the catch is released from the nets into the sorting bin, where the
delicious and valuable shrimp are separated from
the by-catch, which may include dozens of species of
Gulf fish, small Rays, and even small Sharks.
